Last week, we learned that Weller has some unknown knowledge of Shepard based on him recognizing her voice in the unmodulated recording of Winter’s kidnappers. I thought that we would’ve got into that this episode, but the team was busy with other things like you know, just the regular ninja-like active shooter. This week’s episode was pretty decent and funny seeing as Rich Dotcom has resurfaced. He’s a little extra most of the time, but he’s dead on most of the time as well. Especially when it comes to reading the room when Weller and Jane are also in it. I also believe we’re a little bit closer to finding out who the FBI mole is considering they contacted Roman when contact is supposed to be limited. Let’s talk about it!
We open with Jane and Kurt looking all heart-eyed at each other but because of the slight grayish white hue after a few minutes, I realized this obviously wasn’t real. They seemed to be preparing some kind of holiday dinner before Roman came over and their little family was complete. All was good until the door opened and Jane saw the same gray duffle bag she was in outside of the door and then her past self busted in and they started fighting! It was supposed to be a yin yang thing, well at least that’s how I saw it, since Jane was wearing all white and her alter ego was wearing all black. Jane’s other self told her that none of the things belonged to her and proceeded to fight her. It wasn’t until alter ego Jane cut normal Jane’s throat her throat that she woke up from the nightmare and we realized that’s all it was.
The team was having their morning pow-wow and going over Sandstorm’s past trying to figure out what Phase Two is seeing as Jane aborted her FBI mission to save Roman’s life. The team was obviously not happy about that considering how they were blaming her for them knowing nothing about Sandstorm's future plans to ‘reset’ everything. Side eye’s and all. Yeah, it is kind of Jane’s fault but had she let Roman die, who says that she’d even be able to help them anymore? Shepard might’ve made Jane her new right hand with Roman out of the picture. But that’s none of my business. Kurt adjourned the meeting and decided to confront Nas about the bug she placed in Bordon’s room. All the while, Jane was getting texts from her potential new flame and Patterson had the nerve to ask her if it was a cat video from Sandstorm. Really girl? Patterson decided that she would help Jane with the guy seeing as she never gets to be the relationship expert and that was nice. The day seemed to be going as usual until it wasn’t and all of the computers started to shut down.
Enter Rich Dotcom. We haven’t seen this fool since the team put him in jail last season and he escaped and was off the radar. Rich had shut down all of the FBI’s servers and claimed that he would wipe all of the information if they didn’t drop a bomb on the coordinates that he provided. They had until he finished watching Stranger Things in which he was already on episode 7/8. Obviously, there’s more to the story so Weller knew that he was using the server at his place since he dissed the kind of beer that he buys. When they arrested him and brought him back to interrogate him, they realized it was all too easy. Rich shares that it was because he wanted to be captured so that the FBI could protect him. Apparently, The Acadian, this super ninja like assassin was after him and had already killed his boyfriend Boston while they were on vacay in England. So his plan was to get arrested and lead The Acadian to the FBI so that they could handle the whole thing. As Rich shared his plan, he realized that the team chemistry was off. He questioned if it was because Kurt and Jane have hooked up and it was bad or if Nas is the reason for the tension. He compared their tension to the second Aunt Viv arriving on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and I was dead AF. Rich confirmed why I’ve liked his character from the beginning.
While Kurt, Jane, and Nas are dealing with Rich, Tasha and Reede are dealing with the NYPD. The officer that the two spoke to at the scene, as well as the prosecutor from Jones’ case are waiting in a conference room to talk to Reede. The prosecutor apologized for basically not believing him in the beginning about Jones and doing more to get him before he was killed. The NYPD officer also had the nerve to ask Reede who from the list of tapes could be a potential suspect. He was upset and exclaimed that the killer was in the room in which I thought he was outing himself, but then he said it was their fault for not doing anything about Jones sooner. Rich had managed to escape from his holding cell because he didn’t feel ‘safe’ away from the team. When Nas threatened to put him back in a cell he uttered the word ‘Omaha’ which had Nas shook. She cooperated with his requests immediately. Omaha was obviously something she didn’t want everyone to know about. Hmmm, I still low-key don’t trust her.
After the almost outing of information, we learn that The Acadian is in the building and has been since the beginning of the day. He had managed to kill a security guard that morning and use his I.D. to get into the building and kill two other guards as well as Rich. This is when everyone starts to kick into gear! Kurt splits everyone up and Nas and Jane somehow ended up together to secure Nas’ office. While there, Jane tries to convince Nas that she can turn Roman into an asset for the FBI. Nas doesn’t think that would work seeing as she had her own Roman at one point and because of him some of her team died. Though she says she’ll consider it. Lies.com At this point, the team learns what they’re working with when the Acadian sends a water cooler bomb up the elevator. Patterson, the queen of knowledge, knows how to diffuse the chemical part of the bomb so that the hydrogen sulfide gas isn't released. After doing so, she and Kurt detonated the second part of the bomb resulting with Patterson being out of play with a concussion. The Acadian isnt a target that’s going to go down easily especially when he drops in, literally, on Reede and Tasha as they’re looking for him in the locker room. They were too busy arguing to notice him at first, especially because Reede told Tasha that she’s gambling with his life and he’s over it. Enter the Acadian to beat both of them up and kidnap Tasha. That obviously wasn’t the time for that conversation Reede.
The Acadian injected Tasha with a neurotoxin and has her deliver a message to the team. They are to leave Rich alone in the room and in exchange he’ll tell them which vile is the antidote to save Tasha’s life. That wasn’t going to happen so the team, well Rich, came up with a plan to loop the footage so that it appears he’s alone while Reede and Nas go and save Tasha. Everyone was a little skeptical but knew it was the quickest way to save Tasha. Kurt and Jane were giving him all they had when Jane finally got him down and he killed himself before telling them which vile held the antidote. Thank goodness Tasha was coherent enough to see which vile was the cure before the Acadian took the labels off. She couldn’t say it because she was choking and about to die, but she was able to communicate with Reede in Morse code so that Reede and Nas knew which vile to choose when they found her.
One would think that the day was over and everything went as planned, but nope! Kurt called the department of corrections to come and pick up Rich and take him back to jail and they did. Turns out the people who came to transport him were just two guys and Boston in disguise to help Rich escape jail again. What Rich didn’t know was that the FBI was 10 steps ahead of him and knew that he wasn’t on a real transport van and stopped the group before they could get away. Patterson had actually uncovered Rich and Boston’s entire plan. It turned out that Boston was never killed and the whole scheme of Rich getting arrested was so that they could get the Acadian off of their backs. Patterson knew that Boston was alive when she listened to Rich’s wild story about how the Acadian killed Boston. Rich used Dobby’s death as his story for Boston! Boston was also taken aback that Rich would relate him with Dobby when he felt he was more of a Gilderoy Lockhart, *cackles*. These writers have a lot of nerve to bring up Dobby’s death like that! I still have yet to heal so I found that to be disrespectful on many levels.
Tasha had continued to meddle in Reede’s life by meeting up with an old friend at the NYPD so that she could get into the evidence lockup and steal the murder weapon found at Jones’ murder scene. She mainly did it to protect Reede who she still wasn’t sure killed him or not but when she opened the envelope she was in for a surprise. Turns out the murder weapon was actually the same knife that belonged to Freddie and Tasha remembered him taking when she kicked him out of Reede’s place. Now we hadn’t seen Roman all episode, so there was no better time than the end of the episode for him to make an appearance. As he and an associate were preparing for something, he got an sos from the FBI mole. The guy that was working with him suggested that Shepard should know about the communication in which Roman reminded him that she surely did not. The mole had left information for him at their drop spot and it was a note that shared Jane is loyal to the FBI and the information in the envelope showed how she was trying to share the chips data with them while he was trying to get them out alive. Roman is officially ready to pop off and I’m excited to see how this will play out next week.
This episode was one of the good ones just like last week. We see the changes and lack of change happening with everyone. Roman resorting back to his killer ways towards the end and Jane trying to show a softer side while out on a date with Oliver but then leaving him because that life isnt for her. I’m excited to see how things play out next week. What’d you think of the episode!?
